Instructions

Access the Google Map Here: MAP

 

1. Start at Boots Campground (Mile 0–3)

  • Exit Boots Campground and head north on East River Road.

  • Continue heading south on East River Road.

  • Turn right onto 36th Street and follow the road east for about 2 miles.

  • Don't forget to take some photos while you're at the Roughrider State Park / Sully Creek State Park

3. Sully Creek Road (Mile 3–8)

  • Turn right onto Sully Creek Road, heading southeast.

  • The road will become rougher, with gravel and dirt paths winding through Sully Creek State Park.

  • Stop by Sully Springs for a scenic break before continuing.

4. Painted Canyon (Mile 8–14)

  • Follow Sully Creek Road east until you reach Painted Canyon Road Southwest.

  • Ride north for about 6 miles until you reach Painted Canyon Visitor Center.

  • Enjoy the overlook and visitor center amenities before continuing.

5. Belfield (Mile 14–21.2)

  • From Painted Canyon, continue east on Painted Canyon Road SW.

  • From Painted Canyon, take the same route back toward Medora.

  • Return to Boots Campground to complete the loop.

  • Camera for scenic views
